Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long have you been pet sitting?
A: I have been pet sitting for 25 years, starting in the early 2000s when I began caring for my neighbors’ dogs in Columbus, Ohio while job hunting. What started as a small favor quickly grew into a long-term passion and side business. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep understanding of dog behavior, health, and individual needs. I know that leaving your pets in someone else’s care is a big decision, and I’m committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and stress-free experience for both you and your pets.
Q: Are you home with the dogs that you pet sit all day?
A: I am home all day with your dog(s) unless I need to run an errand. I have a freelance marketing business so I work from home which is great because the dogs get to be outside frequently and enjoy playing all day.
Q: What happens if my pet has an emergency and needs to go to the vet?
A: If you pet needs to go to the Vet for any reason, I would call your Vet first to see if they can see your dog and if not, I would either call my Vet (Scottsdale Animal Healthcare) directly or take them to the closest Emergency Vet. I have a great relationship with my personal Veterinarian and can call her direct to be seen immediately. You would also be contacted immediately. I also have you fill out a form stating that if I can’t get in touch with you that I am authorized to take care of the situation.
Q: What does it cost to have you watch my Home while I am gone for months at a time?
A: That is a very valid question but service varies based on what you need as a client. It is not a one-type fits all scenario. Average cost per month can start at $250 per month.
Q: I am insured on my home, why would I need a Home Watch Service?
A: Great question! Did you know that if you leave your seasonal residence for several weeks or months and damages occur, it’s possible that your insurance carrier might ask for proof that it was being looked after. If you cannot prove it was being looked after, they might consider you negligent and deny your claim.
Q: What's the frequency of home watch visits?
A: It's our best practice to visit the property weekly or bi-weekly.
Q: Are you licensed, insured, and background checked?
A: Yes, with one exception and one that you need to understand. There is no license yet for Home Watching. However, I am a registered LLC and carry extensive insurance ($1mm/$2mm). I am happy to provide my company credentials.
Q: What type of Concierge Services do you provide?
A: I have all the time that you don’t! I am happy to pick up dry-cleaning, grocery shop, plan a birthday party, run your errands, gift wrapping for the holidays, make appts, travel bookings and dinner reservations, manage your home (Pool, Landscaper, Cleaning, Contractor etc.), Mailing Services and more…Just ask! We do not offer babysitting, cooking or cleaning services but can provide you with preferred vendors that can help with those services.
